Dis-Chem Pavilion
Dear Rui Morais (CEO) and Nomfundo Vilakazi (HR Director)
Not often does the public give credit where it is due. I would like to commend your dispensary staff at the Pavilion branch in KZN. I am a medical professional based in the UK, originally from SA and was accompanying my uncle who was getting his script on Saturday the 26th of April 2025. The prescription line was long but moved at a reasonable pace and all the staff had pleasant smiles on their faces despite being yelled at by customers. Whom do not understand the pressure that medical personnel are under. This takes me to the ugly side of my review.
Amongst these customers was an unpleasant gentleman whom I initially thought was bluffing, by calling himself a Regional Manager of Dis-Chem. To my terrifying surprise after checking the Dis-Chem LinkedIn page he is indeed a Regional Manager. His name is Christopher Mottram, a very impatient chap who skipped the queue after not being in it for that long. The way he spoke to the staff left me with a very conflict view of your organisation. The Dis-Chem I left many years back under Ivan Saltzman always put their employees first hence why I always preferred shopping with you instead of Clicks where their professional employees are just numbers.
My experience at the Pavilion turned from bad to worse with what I witnessed. As a medical professional I just could not believe what I heard from the conversation between Christopher and the Pharmacist that was called by the terrified staff to calm the drama your “Regional Manager” had started. He demanded an antibiotic without a prescription. Is that even legal in South Africa? May your organisation please investigate this incident as Christoper left the dispensary with medications that I highly suspect was *******ly obtain from the terrified staff that he bul**** in front of other customers.
I do not expect feedback for this post but expect you as an organisation to right this wrong. Regards Better South Africa
