Dis-Chem increases "Water Kefir Kit" price with nearly 50%

I have been looking at natural organic Fermentation products for at least six months now as a way of strengthening my immune system (of which 80% is located in the gut.

Two products came up namely Kombucha and Kefir. For Kombucha you need a live "scobie" in order to grow your own and I have been unable to secure any in Secunda where I live.

I came accross a Kefir kit in our local Dis-chem store and purchased it some 2 months ago for a price of R149-95. The benefit of Kefir is that it is rich in certain Pro-biotics which can be purchased outright at very high prices.

As this Corona pandemic is increasing consumers are seeking alternative ways of staying healthy and boosting our immune systems.

Kefir is therefore a valuable and relatively cheap product that delivers pro-biotics and boosts the immune system.

I went to Dis-chem Secunda this morning 07/04/2020 and decide to buy 2 more kits at R149-95.

Price on the shelf read "R149.95"

At the checkout the cashier scanned and price was increased to R219-00.

It turned out price was increase but not changed at the shelf.

How do you justify this huge increase on this product especially in these times?
