Dis-Chem - bad customer service and reputational damage to the company.

Our family had several bad experiences at Dis-Chem Northgate, Northriding, Randburg. Months after scripts were filled, they stop you at the till when you visit again to fill a script and claim that you never paid for the medicine issued two, sometimes three months ago. Their excuse every time is that their cashiers were trainees at that time and they did not charge us at the till for the medicine although it was properly passed through the till by the cashiers themselves so the medicine was not overlooked or hidden in any way. At times their excuse was also that their cashiers made a mistake by not charging us at the time of issue. This happened to myself, my wife and my daughter on several different occasions. When it happened the second time I demanded to see the video footage at the tills at the time of the alleged non-payment and, lo and behold, the cameras "were not working on that day." I voiced my objection to the manager in the strongest possible terms but found him unsympathetic and relentless and demanding I pay for something he could not prove I did not pay for already. And you are then in the position where you are forced to pay what they demand otherwise they won't give you the medication you currently need. We were customers who spent thousands per month on prescription medication at that branch for years - but not anymore. Bad bad customer relations. What appalling business principles and reputational damage to the company as a whole - and I told the manager all of the above.
