Dis- chem

Yesterday I visited Dischem Vaal Mall with a friend. My friend is in a wheelchair. The special disability tills were closed, the supervisors were busy doing their work at these stations. There is also no difference between all the other teller/till stations. The special wheelchair till is exactly the same night as all the others. The speed point(card machine) is fixed to the counter and much too high for a person in a wheelchair to access.

Upon speaking to the manager about this problem she said that the tills were not closed, that it was just what the computer said. When I asked about the night an accessibility of the counter and speed point she had no answer. She dis mention that if it was needed they could bring the mobile speed point. She did not try to assist us in any manner and walked away.

My friend is nit an invalid. She just can't walk. Yet I had to enter her atm pin number when paying because Dischem does not have the available resources to make my friend feel like the human being she is.

Dischem proud themselves in being a health focused company. They sell wheelchairs and other aids but so not cater for their customers?

I am very disappointed by this. I am not sure if all Dischem stores are set up this way. Bit the one in Vaal Mall certainly has some way to go to become inclusive.
