I found a huge discrepancy between shelf prices and medical aid prices. I took a Spectrum 120 tabs from the shelf @ R325.00. I had to get counter meds which I paid from my medical aid savings account. I asked whether the Spectrum could be included. after all my cash or my savings...it remains my money. It was accepted, I needed to make a co payment of R125.00 which I accepted until the assistant told me that the medicla aid would only authorise R302.00. That increased the counter price to R427.00. I asked for it to be cancelled and I opted to pay cash for it. The cashier rang it up @ R279.00. ?????. What is happening. Do we pay such a huge amount for medical aid for the benefit of paying 30% more than the shelf price and 53% more than at the cashier. I was previously took items back because medicla aid payments do not attract special offers. Standard counter pricing is app****.
