COVID-19 Testing: False Promises

My husband and I fell sick during COVID-19 and needed to get tests done before we went back to work. Dis-Chem Menlyn Mall offers drive through covid testing and we thought this may be the better option, as it would be most efficient. I phoned this branch to find out about whether we can claim the tests from medical aid and their response was:

" Yes, of course. It's an easy proccess. You will come for your test, pay cash, but receive an invoice that will have a code on it. You will need to contact your medical aid and they will reimburse you once you show them this invoice with the code."

This sounded simple enough. Claiming through medical aid was of vital importance to us, because I lost my job and my husband's salary was knocked. We couldn't just simply pay R850 each for a test.

Well, what a nightmare this" very simple proccess, " has become. Our medical aid, FedHealth says the tarrif codes are incorrect. Dis-Chem simply does not care and won't help us. It has been back and forth emails to no avail.

What sort of service is this to the people of this country? Honestly, this is false advertising from Dis-chem and I can only imagine how many people they have squeezed money from by tricking them into believing they can claim from medical aid.
