Bad Service at Dischem Raslouw

On 25 November 2017 my mother-in-law, Ms M.J.S. Oosthuizen, a 92 year old Transnet pensioner, purchased some goods at Dischem, Raslouw. While paying with her debit card the transaction was "declined" twice. Only on the third attempt did the transaction go through. When she got back home she saw however that the same transaction, to the value of R268.20, was put through three times. Since then we have made several attempts to resolve the issue and get Dischem to refund the amount of R536.40, but without success. Dischem, Raslouw declines any responsibility and accountability for this incident although it is their till operator that was responsible for the transaction, they allege that their banker (Nedbank) says the money never ended up in their bank account while it has clearly been removed from my Mother-in-law's bank account (Standard Bank) and now expects my Mother-in-law to sort out the problem with her bank, while it is not her or her bank's oversight that caused this problem. I believe it is extremely unprofessional of Dischem to have this attitude, take an old lady's money and then denies any accountability. Even my attempts to resolve the issue through Dischem's head office were unsuccessful. Maybe to Dischem the amount of R536.40 seems immaterial, but to a Transnet pensioner it is a small fortune.
