Read your policy document carefully because it changes significantly year-to-year

This is the 2nd year that I have this medical insurance and this is the second year I am very disappointed. The Health Plus Policy changed in 2025 and Kaelo Health does as little as possible to inform you of major changes. The benefits reduce and the monthly cost goes up. I assumed there would be few changes to the policy and so didn't check for changes to the specialist visit benefits. I submitted a claim which has been rejected because I didn't get preauthorization. In 2024 the benefit was up to R3000 per specialist visit and no preauthorization was needed. In 2025 the benefit is reduced from R3000 to R2000 and preauthorization is required. I am angry with myself for not checking the policy document and assuming there were no major changes. This is now a grudge medical insurance. More and more benefits are not covered, yet premiums go up. Shop around very carefully before selecting this medical insurance. Make sure you read your policy document because it changes significantly year-to-year.
