Breach of Privacy and POPI Act Compliance
I am deeply disappointed with Direct Line Holdings for sharing my personal information, specifically my mobile number, without my consent. This is a clear violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), which mandates that businesses handle personal data responsibly and with explicit consent from the individual.
I did not authorize the use or sharing of my contact details, and I view this as a serious breach of my privacy rights. This behavior is unacceptable and raises concerns about the company’s respect for customer confidentiality and adherence to South African data protection laws.
I urge Direct Line Holdings to take immediate corrective action to ensure that such violations do not recur. Additionally, I recommend that the company reviews its internal processes and provides assurances to customers regarding the proper handling of their personal information.
To others considering engaging with this company, I advise caution until their commitment to compliance with POPIA and respect for customer privacy is evident.
