Unsuccessful printer repairs and assessment fees
Sent an old Canon Pixma printer in for repair. Having paid for an inspection fee and having to buy new ink cartridges to enable them to continue with testing the final feedback was that Digital Revelation were unable to locate the relevant spares for a discontinued line and the printer was irreparable. A significant sum of money out of pensioners pocket at this stage. I requested a call back from management which, given the perceived attitude of the front desk, I was not expecting to receive. The call came through a few days later and a very constructive discussion was held with management of the business. Despite further searches to try and locate the required spares, even second hand proved fruitless, a mutually acceptable compromise has been reached. They have agreed that additional training for the front desk is appropriate to enable them to do a high level analysis of the problems experienced by the client and given the equipment description and problem, make a judgement call and advise the client not to spend good money on assessing obsolete consumer equipment problems.
