FNB and Digital Planet ******** people
I ordered a "new" TV via the FNB smart devices web portal, a Hisense 55' inch when the box arrived it mostly looked okay on the outside except for the sellotape sealing the box which was was not the original sellotape because some of the package handling print and HDMI logo missing from the box and the sellotape,
you could also tell the sellotape was app**** to the raw cardboard which made is not stick so well, I took some initial pictures because I felt something was off after opening the box you can clearly see this is not a new TV all the packaging inside for the remote control, TV stand etc.. was ripped open.
I immediately contracted FNB and after 3 weeks and many calls with Digital Planet to arrange a courier to collect it and have it assessed, they send me a cancellation letter saying I need to pay R 10,941.00 for the smart contract, remainder of the TV's value and R165 for the the device collection and that the TV is fully irrecoverable.
In Summary 1) They sent me a resealed box not a new unit 2) The TV is apparently fully unrecoverable Deemed physical damage 3) They expect me to pay for it anyway? 4) The are many other complaints about this exact thing on Hello peter and other local websites something clearly suspicious is going on here.
This is unacceptable and if i need to get an attorney involved to sort this out then that is what I am going to do.
