Refusal to deliver for paid goods

On Tuesday (29/09/15) I placed an order through the Digicape website for a Drobo 5D. I get an SMS from my bank saying that R12,299.00 had been reserved from my account. Later I receive an email from Digicape to inform me that the item would be collected from their storage facility the following day.

The following day I am informed that they actually don't have stock and are unable to tell me when they were likely to get stock as the unit is trading at 'almost double the price' of what it would be overseas, due to the weak Rand. Implying that I am meant to pay an additional fee in order to receive the item.

Shocked by this, I highlighted that R12,299.00 (at the time) amounted to 618.21(GBP)
Ordering from Drobo on [URL Removed] including shipment and duties is 550.92(GBP) or R11,580.49..

I then requested that they, as the SA Drobo distributor should be able to deliver to me the unit without it costing any additional fee and certainly not 'almost double the price', to which I was informed that Digicape wont import just one Drobo.

So, I am sitting with funds having been reserved from my account and Digicape refusing to deliver to me the item in which I have ordered.

Disgraceful!

Hello Freddie_,

I understand a representative have been direct with you regarding this matter.

We understand that you could acquire this direct from overseas at a cheaper cost, however that is the shipping cost for one unit, having removed the local reseller who has to cover all related costs and make a mark up accordingly. As with everything if you cut out the middle man it is always going to be cheaper.

Our online store reserves the funds on the provided card details for 3 days without removing the monies from your account, until such time that the order has been processed. Should our system not process an order within the 3 day period, the acquiring bank automatically releases the hold of the funds on your credit card.

As your payment was processed online on 29/09/2015, and nothing has as yet been ordered for you the funds would have been released by this time. Please could we ask you to confirm on your bank statement if this reversal of entry is noted. If not, please can you advise us further so that we can follow through with our payment portal accordingly.

We apologise for any frustration caused but unfortunately some factors may be beyond our control.

Regards
The Digicape Team
