CELLPHONE COMPLAINT
Good day Sir/Madam
In May 2019, i can't remember the exact date but i think it was towards the end of May. I took a cellphone contract with iSmart, the cellphone was send and i received it. I think i was too excited, i opened the cellphone at the back knowing that most of the cellphones are opened at the back to insert the Sim card, it was so hard to open i scratched it, it was just a small scratch. There was no manual to guide me. I tried to remove the battery but it was stacked and it bent like it was made of rubber, it was different totally different from other batteries that i know . I managed to take it out only to find out that the Sim card is not inserted at the back but on the side of the cellphone. After all the struggling i tried to charge the phone but it did not want to charge. There were some few percentages on the battery bar so i checked other things on the cellphone to see if they are functioning. I tried to make a call but the other person on the other side could not hear me but i heared them. I also tried to send an SMS but it could not go through. I tried testing the cellphone for some few days but failed, it was on but did not want to function.
After all these attempts i phone the iSmart and told them happened and they said they will send someone to come to collect the cellphone, the Sim card i kept it with me. I waited for three weeks for that someone to collect the phone and i also made some few calls to remind them to collect the cellphone. It was collected on the 14th of June 2019. I went on leave on that same day the cellphone was collected and came back on the 1st of July 2019. I did not make any call when i was on leave. When i came back i made some few calls to find out if they did receive the phone and also to find out how far they are on the repairs. I called one day to find out if its possible to cancel my contract, the lady i phone spoke with said that i'll have to pay half of the contract money and they as the company will also pay half, i was not satisfied with that response. I asked because i was not satisfied with their service.
The cellphone came back. I checked it, other things were working except the mute function, i tested it for some few days but nothing. I had to use earphones or to put the other person on the other side on the speaker so that he/she could hear me. I phoned the iSmart, that lady i spoke with that day, she also checked it. She asked me to put the cellphone and battery in its box and said that they will send someone to collect the cellphone. It was collected after a week.
On the 17th of July my husband received a whats app SMS as a form of an invoice, I did not understand why they send my husband a whats app SMS because they have been communicating with me. The invoice had an amount of R402.50 to be paid for fixing the cellphone. I did not pay that amount because i already phoned iSmart to report that cellphone is not completely fixed. My husband received a whats app sms to confirm the pick address of the cellphone because it was my work address . On the 24th July the cellphone was collected.
On the 6th August 2019, my husband received a whats app sms, it said, " we have assessed your wife's cellphone, it will be too costly to have it repaired. We can offer you a swop out unit @R600+R250 courier fee. Total R850 inc. Let me know how you would like to proceed."I took some time to think about their offer and i also asked my self if all the damages on that cellphones are really caused by just opening the cellphone at the back? but i did not contact them to find out.
On the 19th August 2019 i decided to send a whats app sms to the number that has been sending messages to my husband. i told that person i want to cancel my contract, i do not want a swop. I have never used that cellphone till date. The person i send the whats app sms said that he/she wiil send an email to iSmart regarding my contract because he/she not from iSmart but he/she is the supplier of the phones, then i wondered how come he/she send my husband the whats app messages not the iSmart. I also asked him/her to tell iSmart that i'm going to involve HELLOPETER especially if they are going to tell me to pay half of the contract money, but i wrote to HELLOPETER because i have not heared anything from iSmart after sending a whats app sms and also they are still deducting R345.00 but i do not have a cellphone and have never used it.
Thank you.
Yours Sincerely LL Mbongo ID N0: *** Cellphone N0: ***
