Being harassed by the telemarketers

This company has been harassing me non stop - I have received 7 calls from ********** today alone! The first time the telemarketer called, I asked her where she has gotten my information from and she put the phone down in my ear. After 2 missed calls from them again, I answered and Zanele spoke to me. I asked to speak to a manager whereby Calvin assured me that 'because I am a customer of Vodacom for 5 years, they were allowed to receive my information'. I have never had a Vodacom contract before, nor do I have one now. He assured me that they won't contact me again and he apologized profusely.

I was in a meeting from 1pm today whereby I had 2 x missed calls from this number again. At 3:30pm I received another call from Tebogo, whereby I asked to speak to Calvin. While listening to the back ground noise of the office which was heavy house music, Tebogo decided to put the phone down on me again.

According to Section 11 of the Consumer Protection Act an establishment must have an opt-out registry that must enable consumers to protect themselves ‘against any communication, (i.e. Cold Calls), that is primarily for the purpose of direct marketing’, by the Consumer Commission. This comes on the backdrop of consumers’ right to privacy and a right to protect themselves against direct marketing - I don't feel protected right now.

You would think with the POPI Act coming into effect that they would also think before they call or be rude to clients for no reason. So, this is me, publicly asking iSmart Telecommunications (Digicall Group) to remove them from their system and telling Vodacom to mind their own business with my information.
