Unfinalised claim that's taking almost a year

After 5 weeks the same excuse, they are not getting a response from their insurer. How is this explainable to a person that is dealing with the loss of a loved one, dealing with financial issues, emotional and physical problems? After 10 months, how many more months is this going to drag on?
