Disappointing Emergency Experience. Still No Proper Follow-Up from Wilgers

I submitted a detailed complaint to The Wilgers Hospital on 22 July 2025 regarding a traumatic experience at their Emergency Unit. Since then, I have received only one phone call—from a lady that is only in charge of the reception staff.

On Saturday, 20 July, I rushed my husband to the ER due to severe dizziness, chest pain, and near-collapse. Despite his obvious distress, we were told to sit and wait with no sense of urgency. When I begged for help, staff were curt, dismissive, and visibly irritated. Communication was cold throughout the night. He was eventually seen after hours of waiting and then discharged at 01:00 in the morning with little clarity or explanation of what is going on.

We returned the next morning and, although treated better by a different doctor, spent another four hours waiting. In total, we spent almost 10 hours at the Hospital Emergency Unit over a terrifying weekend, with minimal support or compassion from staff.

Emergency care should be safe, responsive, and reassuring. Instead, we felt ignored, dehumanised, and left in the dark. The lack of empathy we encountered and now the lack of proper response to a serious complaint, is simply unacceptable.

Complaint Still Ignored – Yet We Keep Receiving Bills
I first posted here about our unacceptable experience at Wilgers Emergency Unit and the lack of urgency, compassion, and communication during a frightening time for my husband and me. Since then, nothing meaningful has been done to resolve the complaint.
The only response we received was one phone call from the lady in charge of reception staff. No hospital manager or medical professional has contacted us to provide an explanation, apology, or feedback. Despite this, we continue to receive statements for consultation and emergency consultation as if nothing ever happened.
It is extremely disappointing that Wilgers Hospital ignores serious complaints about patient care yet has no problem sending bills. Until this matter is properly addressed, we will not be paying the statement.
Patients and families deserve accountability, empathy, and proper communication—not silence.
