Would not recommend Dial a Nerd

Surprise surprise when I opened hellopeter and found that we were not the only ones who went through this.

We called dial a nerd to book a technician. However they insisted on helping us over the phone. The person 'helping' us actually made the problem worse. The next day I called again to ask that this time a technician be sent out as the problem is now worse, but was again told that we would be assisted over the phone. I refused and they told me they would call back.

After not getting the call back we decided to contact a different IT company. The technician was able to come assist us right away. It took him less than 30 minutes to fix the problem directly on the laptop.

Eventually we got the call from dial a nerd, to which I told them that the problem was fixed and we did not need their assistance. And then we received the bill.

On the invoice it clearly says that the problem could not be fixed and we had to contact our network provider - his exact words below;

• I advised the client that the issue was not with his local machine as it was sending and receiving, {it established the connections to the online servers} • I advised the client that he needs to contact his email host provider and ask them to whitelist his email account as he was being blocked by spam.

Obviously the technician had no idea what he was doing or felt that this was not worth his time. Either way, the service we received was terrible but they were very fast to invoice us.

Our company has used dial a nerd for many years. We are disappointed that this is the manner in which they treat their customers.

Please save yourself some time and money and don't even bother using them!

Apparently it was followed up by Roxanne after I initially complained about being invoiced. Below is the email I received from you this morning making it perfectly clear that this invoice had to be paid, regardless. From: Roxanne Bigge Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2017 4:26 PM To: Cc: Anelle Loftie-Eaton Subject: FW: Tax Invoice AT39034 - MIN020 Good day, Your below feedback has been received, kindly note that Andrew looked into Mr W’s issue and provided a diagnosis. Andrew was also very clear of the charges and this was accepted by Mr W. I understand that the issue was resolved elsewhere, the invoice from us is however valid and due for payment please, as we had a resource look into the issue and work on it for an hour. Kindly find attached the invoice due for payment. Below is a description of work performed within that hour. • I remoted onto the clients Mac • I tested his emails sending them to me as well. • Found that the emails were being picked up as spam and had to be released from the spam filters on the sonic wall. • I advised the client that the issue was not with his local machine as it was sending and receiving, {it established the connections to the online servers} • I advised the client that he needs to contact his email host provider and ask them to whitelist his email account as he was being blocked by spam. Good day

We have credited the invoice in full as after further investigation we were at fault by not sending a technician out when one was requested.

Additional training will be given to the technician in question to avoid this in the future

Unfortunately, sometimes we get IT wrong… and we’d like you (and everyone else) to know that we have credited the invoice in full as, after further investigation, we found that we didn’t diagnose this problem properly (nor fix it) & then were at fault by not sending a technician out when one was requested. These days we attempt to resolve as much as we can remotely and telephonically to save our customers time and money on travel and occasionally (and somewhat stubbornly) our Nerds try to “go it alone” when they can delegate to another to physically visit our customers and get to a resolution onsite. We hope you understand, accept our apology and give us a chance again in the future.
