A BAD ATTITUDE IS LIKE A FLAT TYRE…YOU CANNOT GO ANYWHERE UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT.

<p>My son MF Brink attends the Ysterplaat Junior School and has been since grade one. The beginning of February I received a letter stating that I need to apply for him to go grade 4 .I went to Ysterplaat Primary school on the 16 th of February because I needed to collect the application forms. The secretary said that unless I had the letter that the school sent and my son’s previous report I cannot get the forms. I asked her if she minded if I just went to the school to collect as I cannot take off another day from work and she said it was fine. I left my nanny and twin daughters at the school and returned less than 10 minutes later they were standing outside and I was told by other people that were in the waiting area that she left. I called her the following day and I told her that I will be sending my daughter to collect the forms and she said its fine I asked her why we had to apply for the school as my brother and sister both attended the school and that we never had to apply before and she rep**** its because some of the kids do not go to the primary school and that they move or go to other schools to which I rep**** that my son will definitely not be moving.</p> <p> </p> <p>My daughter collected the forms on Monday the 20Th of February and I completed the forms and Sent it back On the 26th February. My daughter said she was greeted by a very rude secretary who told her that the forms were incomplete I attached all of the papers the only thing that was not attached was his Clinic Card and the monies, I assumed that it was the clinic card as everything else was there. Because I work at a hospital its very difficult for me to get off work .my daughter tried to drop off the documentation at least 3 times and each time the secretary would show her away without even looking at the forms .</p> <p> </p> <p>On the 24 of march my daughter insisted that she take the paper work and that she will not sent away again I spoke with the secretary who was extremely rude once again and I asked to speak to the principal I spoke with the principal and the secretary admitted that my daughter has been to the school a few times but that she didn’t take the papers as they were incomplete .i then asked the principal to ask the secretary what was missing as I have completed all the forms as requested to which the secretary she didn’t know..and I said exactly because she is rude and has not checked the papers. The papers were checked and everything had been there all along it was accepted that day. I was then informed that the school is full and that he cannot be accommodated.</p> <p> </p> <p>I called the The department of education and requested a meeting with Miss Nomkhita Makosane a colleague gave me her number to contact. I spoke with Miss Makosane secretary Rose and she was very kind and understanding asked me to get the names of the principal and secretary and contact the school district and gave me the contact number for the school district. On the 30th of march I called the school and the secretary answered I asked to speak with the principal she asked to whom she was speaking and I gave my name I was told in a very rude manner that the principal is not available and that if I want to report her I must call the district and she threw the telephone down in my ear. I called again and I asked why she did that to which she rep**** that she was busy.</p> <p> </p> <p> I contacted the district and spoke with Miss Bongiwe who advised me to have a meeting with the SGB.I was greeted with glares and sarcasm since the start of the meeting with the principal telling me that she doesn’t know why parents think that if they mention the department of education that she will be in some sort of trouble .The lady from the SGB was most unprofessional and accused me of lying saying that they had a paper trail of me sending the wrong forms when I asked to see the papers it was basically my paper work with the same date written on it a few times .the principal also admitted that she is aware of the secretary that is rude to parents but what do we expect she has a lot of work to do .So the outcome of the meeting was basically that I must go ahead and complain and do what I want to.</p> <p>I asked the Lady from the SGB and the principal if they thought that it is logical that if I wasn’t interested or didn’t make any effort to apply for my son on time that I would take off work to sort this out or send my daughter there multiple times. If I was negligent in anyway, I can understand them refusing my son admission into the school had I left it till the last minute or not tried to make any effort but I did. But I have been fighting with the secretary for over a month on this issue .Had she not been so rude and full of attitude I would not been in this situation at all.</p> <p>I hope that my matter will be seen as important as my son is very small in size he is still mistaken as a grade one student and very soft in nature it has taken him along time to find his feet and its not fair that my son needs to be uprooted and taken away from his friends because of a nasty old lady like MRS WIID.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
