Last year November, I placed a claim with Discovery Insure to have my front passenger door repaired as my car was broken into.

Discovery Insure assessed and then arranged for my vehicle to be sent through to Dent Tech (in Strijdom Park) to be repaired.

The car door was repaired and I collected my vehicle from Dent Tech on Friday 13th at 16:30

While driving from Dent Tech to visit my parents, I noticed several of my vehicles warning lights began to flicker, for a short while (3 seconds maximum) but they then stopped.

Note, that this has never happened in the 9 years I’ve owned my vehicle.

Nevertheless, I managed to drive to my parents place. On my way back home, however, my vehicle cut out just before 14th Avenue where Hendrik Potgieter meets the concrete highway.

I immediately called Discovery Emergency Assist to arrange to have my vehicle towed to my parents place.

The very next day, on Saturday morning, I called the Discovery claims department who attempted to call Dent Tech, however, they were not working over the weekend.

Furthermore the first agent I spoke to (Thabiso) was also very unhelpful and in a rush. I also tried to arrange for another rental car which he would not assist with.

From there I arranged for my vehicle to be towed to Williams Hunt in Roodepoort.

I was told today (by Williams Hunt) that the battery (which was relatively new is now defective) and the alternator is no longer working.

The indicative price for both to be repaired is close to R2500 + R7500 = R10000

Both Discovery Insure and Dent Tech failed to take any responsibility and argued that because my vehicle was relatively old (albeit well looked after) the battery and alternator would have malfunctioned anyway. They kept arguing that they only worked on the passenger door and nothing else.

I was very disappointed and having a Masters in engineering only made me only more angry listening to this explanation.

At to top it all I noticed recently that the passenger door which they repaired does not unlock from the inside.

Probably the most *********** repair work I have ever seen.
