bad after service - delonghi kettle

I was gifted a delonghi kettle by a friend. After a few times using this kettle the switch on the kettle stopped working and would just not press down. I called the delonghi offices for assistance. I was told that since they dont sell the switch seperately i could just buy a new or demo delonghi kettle.

This service is very disappointing considering the cost of these kettles. what shocking revelation
