Dell's bios update bricked my laptop and they insist on me paying to have it fixed.
I didn't think service as bad as this was possible.
I have a Dell XPS 15 9560, the warranty expired June 2019. Dell rolled out a bios update (Version 1.22.1, 1.22.1) which I foolishly installed. This crashed the system and when I tried to enter the recovery options (by pressing F8) it bricked the laptop. This means it's completely dead, the lights and fans power on but nothing happens on the screen. When I contacted them they were not only unhelpful, they insist on replacing the motherboard and have me pay the full amount as it is outside of warranty. Can you imagine that? Dell's bios update broke the machine, and now I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED?! I did some research and this has happened to thousands of people but still Dell refuses to acknowledge the issue or admit fault. I've always been a Dell supported (this is my third dell laptop) but after this experience I'll never purchase Dell and I'll make sure to advise everyone against going Dell. Such a bad experience and waste of time, nevermind sitting with an unusable laptop.
