AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, Dell Computers is drawing sustained criticism in South Africa for after-sales service more than for design intent. Customers describe cracked Inspiron and Latitude screens, keys popping off, faulty USB and RJ45 ports, broken chargers and monitors that will not connect, then find those parts excluded as accidental damage or wear and tear. Frustration centres on AI chatbots, offshore agents, deleted invoices, absent field technicians and repeated automated emails. Several long-standing loyalists still praise older Dell hardware and past service, yet say they will not repurchase.

Complaint Against Dell Technologies South Africa

**Complaint Against Dell Technologies South Africa** I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the level of technical support I have received from Dell Technologies regarding my Dell Inspiron 15 3530 laptop. I purchased this laptop from Mitabyte in Springfield Park for approximately R13,000. As the laptop was only a few months old, it unexpectedly developed a loud mechanical noise. The sound was so severe that it resembled an aircraft preparing for take-off and was extremely disruptive while I was working. This laptop is not simply a personal device. It is my primary work tool and is essential for me to perform my job. Any downtime directly affects my ability to earn an income. When I contacted Mitabyte, I was advised that Dell would provide technical support and, if necessary, send a technician to inspect the laptop. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I later discovered that Dell does not have field technicians available in South Africa, despite this being imp**** during the support process. Instead, Dell instructed me to perform a complete system reset. I followed every instruction provided. Prior to the reset, all of my external hardware functioned perfectly. My second monitor connected without issue, and all of my adapters, ports and cables worked correctly. I had specifically purchased the correct accessories through Mitabyte and additional reputable suppliers. Following Dell's instructions to reset the laptop, my drivers and applications were removed, and my second monitor has never worked properly again. In other words, the solution provided by Dell created additional technical problems that did not previously exist. Since then, attempting to obtain meaningful assistance has been incredibly frustrating. Dell repeatedly claims that technical support has attempted to call me, yet my phone never rings and there are no missed calls. Shortly afterwards I receive automated emails stating that Dell was unable to reach me or that they are experiencing technical difficulties. This pattern has occurred repeatedly. Rather than providing actual support, I continue receiving the same automated responses while my issue remains unresolved. It feels like unnecessary delays instead of genuine customer service. I purchased a premium branded product expecting reliable hardware and professional after-sales support. Instead, I have experienced: • A laptop developing hardware-related issues only months after purchase. • A troubleshooting process that caused additional problems. • Loss of drivers and applications. • A second monitor that no longer functions despite previously working perfectly. • Repeated automated emails instead of meaningful assistance. • Claims that Dell attempted to contact me when no calls were ever received. • Significant disruption to my work and productivity. For a laptop costing approximately R13,000, this level of after-sales service is completely unacceptable. I am not asking for temporary workarounds or repeated scripted troubleshooting. I expect Dell to take responsibility for resolving this matter properly. I request that Dell urgently: * Escalate this matter to a senior technical support specialist. * Restore my laptop to full working order, including the external monitor functionality that existed before I followed Dell's instructions. * Properly investigate the original hardware noise. * Provide a permanent solution, whether through repair or replacement if necessary. As a paying customer, I should not have to repeatedly chase support while receiving automated responses instead of meaningful assistance. My expectation is simple: a laptop that functions as advertised and customer support that resolves problems rather than creating new ones. I sincerely hope Dell will treat this complaint seriously and resolve the matter without any further unnecessary delays.

Dell 27 inch monitor through Takealot

not going to go into much detail as i see Dell does not respond to complaints anyway, I received a cracked Dell screen from Takealot and neither had any interest in repairing or replacing the screen, dell went as far as to suggest that i take it to one of these 3rd party repair shops to repair, brand new screen. Buy or dont buy dell screens through takealot, thats your choice, this was my experience.

Don’t buy Dell products

I bought a Dell monitor on Takealot in Feb 2026 which has a manufacturer warranty. It suddenly stopped connecting to my device. I tried other cables with no luck. I spent hours engaging with Dell via their sms service (you can’t speak to a person) and they sent me another monitor. This too doesn’t connect to my devices and now Dell tell me they’re sending me a 3rd one. They won’t give me refund or upgrade the acreen. Each engagement with Dell is hours of energy on my part and they just make it so difficult to engage. Don’t ever buy Dell products!

Complete frustration with Dell Technical Support!

I am a staunch Dell supporter and have been using a Dell laptop for the past 15 years. Although the laptop itself is a wonderful product, the Dell Customer support has been automated, resulting in utter chaos. I have been trying to get the keyboard on my laptop replaced. However, everything happens online. If you try calling customer support, you end up talking to an AI bot somewhere in the cloud, or a customer support agent somewhere in the East. After numerous challenges, I eventually managed to secure a quotation without too much trouble. I also managed to get a purchase order from my company. When I thought the repair was only a week away, I tried to order it, only to be told by a bot that either the company does not have a Premier account or I am not registered on the account. So, I am stuck. My company cannot assist, despite days spent struggling to engage with Dell Technical Support. With this lack of human support, I will certainly not buy another Dell laptop.

Dell laptop ...screen and motherboard issues less than a year old. Poor quality for the exorbitant price that I paid

I bought a Dell I7 laptop from Dell less than a year ago which cost just under R20 000. It is still under warranty. It seems that I may have closed my screen on my soft notepad so there was a slight Crack on the screen. I struggled to get hold of Dell support which is AI generated. I booked it into a company to do an evaluation. They opened the laptop and imagine theirs and my shock when it was discovered that the motherboard was damaged. Wow...is Dell laptops so fragile.one would think I dropped the laptop from a 10 storey building which I didn't do. Dell stated the cost to repair is over R9000 and it is not covered under warranty. I am so disappointed and will never buy a Dell laptop again. It was a waste of money. I had a demo acer slimline laptop for over 12 years which I had accidentally dropped multiple times and it still worked. Thought it was time for an upgrade but regret my decision

Dell refuses to honour active Premium Support contract after deleting my invoice (their policy)

I purchased an Inspiron 16 Plus 7620 laptop on 11 February 2023 (Dell Purchase ID: ***, total $1,642.40 USD) with Premium Support. Dell’s own support portal still clearly shows Service Tag BCK8GS3 with Premium Support active until 16 February 2027. However, because their system automatically deletes invoices older than 2 years, support is now refusing to assist me. They are dismissing my original order confirmation screenshots as “not invoices” and sending me in circles. I have paid for a multi-year service agreement that is still showing as active on their website, yet they will not honour it. This is completely unacceptable and a blatant breach of the Consumer Protection Act. Dell South Africa — fix this or at least stop pretending you stand behind your warranties.

No Customer service and a BULLY

Didn't honour warranty and gave me some BULL S I damaged my Lap Top screen casing which developed a hair crack on the outer casing. Both the Retailer and Dell will never see me again. Also, how is this for a customer centric / collaborative approach to dealing with customers (Now ex). "If you change your email address, you will lose access to your order history, software licenses, subscriptions, and device registration history"

POOR QUALITY DELL LAPTOP CHARGERS -WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Poor quality of chargers I recently got a new charger after the old one was peeling from the insert point and the wires were exposed. The replaced new chargers tip was loose and eventually broke and now i have to pay for a new charger. Having used DELL before ,it seems the quality has deteriorated and that may b e on purpose to boost sales in replacing of laptop chargers. Would not advice anyone on a dell machine as the laptop charger quality are not the best and constantly need to be replaced. Please consider ensuring that you provide quality products so customers get value for money. Most adults including myself are not negligent, we take care of our gadgets and computer equipment ,however cheap and substandard quality products don't make anything easy!
