Dell Notebook under warranty after 3 weeks worse than ever
We bought a Dell Notebook 6 September 2016 through Takealot. We were given a one year warranty. August 2017 it started making continuous beeping sounds and it was performing worse everyday, responding very slowly. Tuesday 29 August 2017 my husband phoned Dell, just to find out that they have no call center in South Africa. He spoke to Kristian Quilicot. Kristian was extremely polite and told my husband that he would direct him to troubleshoot the Notebook. After more than an hour of troubleshooting, the Notebook was no better, in fact it was worse, still beeping and beeping. He said he would phone my husband again to troubleshoot, which he did, but because my husband is a teacher, he is not available during the day.
(Takealot does not want to take any responsibility, although we bought the Notebook from them.)
In short, after numerous phone calls and more than 3 hours of our time spent on the phone, troubleshooting, the Notebook is now even worse. It is now also freezing from time to time. It is now almost 3 weeks later, and we do not get any help that actually improves the Notebook. They sent out someone from Bytes to replace the motherboard and memory, but it did not make any difference. They promised to send out someone again to replace the motherboard and hard drive,,, has not happened. We were advised to back up all our files, which we did.
We have been begging for so many times that we can just give the Notebook to Dell that they can sort out the problem. Both me and my husband had to take off from work to do the troubleshooting while been given instructions over the phone. Kristian gave us the name of a place where we could hand it in and stated: just note that it will be fee-based. So even though the Notebook broke under warranty, we would have to pay for the repairs.
The people at Dell is extremely polite and keep on apologizing for the inconvenience, but they are using our time to troubleshoot a machine that broke under warranty.
We are extremely dissatisfied with the help we are getting. Dell is doing just what they want and we are the victims. I get the feeling they are making it so difficult for us that we just give up. But the Notebook was just to expensive, and you would not expect a Dell machine to break after less than a year.
It feels to me that Dell has no pride in their service. It is okay for them to make us spend hours and hours on the phone troubleshooting and troubleshooting and getting nowhere. They get paid for their time on the phone, we have to take off from work. We do not work for Dell, we are just customers wanting the Notebook that broke under warranty to be fixed.
