Dell computers don't last long!
I bought my Dell XPS one 2710 computer in August 2013 for R13,000.. Last Thursday I went to switch it on and it was absolutely 'dead'. I telephoned Dell who informed me that it was out of warranty and that it was the motherboard. This would cost me R5,818 for a refurbished motherboard with a three month warranty. The computer should not have gone just after 20 months. The fact that Dell said straight away that the problem was the motherboard told me that this must be a common occurrence. Further, the fact that , apart from the repair cost being ******ionate, you could obviously not rely on the replacement if it only carries a three month warranty. I was not prepared to throw any more money away on Dell. When I went to buy a new computer at a well known retailer I was told that they were dealing with two other customers, both with the same problem. In one case the warranty had expired the day before! I will never, ever again buy a Dell product.<br>
