Beware Dell design.

I own a Dell Inspiron 5559, bought from Dion Wired in Cape Town in late 2016. Now 3 years old. After 2 1/2 years, started getting error messages regarding battery/ charger. Bought new battery and charger, no change. Took to Dell appointed dealer in Durban. Told them what problem was, Wouldnt take in laptop without giving permission to change motherboard. **** Researched issue on internet. Ordered AC adaptor cable through Amazon USA for $5 - amazing. Part arrived after 4 working days, fitted myself, voila. Working. After more research found that this is a common Dell problem caused by poor design of charger plug position (easy to damage AC adaptor, and will fail after a couple of years), and BIOS software designed to take advantage of this flaw by throttling performance, even when nothing is wrong (and no way to disable the software). Shame Dell!! Will never see my money again.
