Unreliable costly appliances

Purchased 2 large appliances from Defy, namely a fridge and a washing machine within the last 5 years for my grandparents. Both appliances have been extremely unreliable. The Fridge underwent 4 repairs, the last being replacement of the compressor, fridge began icing and the door rubbers failed, the fridge had to be discarded and replaced by another brand, resulting in an effective cost of double the purchase price over 5 years. The washing machine, also unreliable, 3 repairs within the last 5 years and now giving problems again. Control panel was replaced last month, now the machine won't rinse. Call out fee paid for troubleshooting, quoted R1900 for repair, replace pump and shocks. Very disappointing, will replace the washing machine with another brand.
