Second Hand Stove sold as new

Yesterday I bought what is supposed to be a brand new Defy stove from Makro. It was in the packaging and shrink wrap and looked good. When I opened it the first thing I noticed was that al the blue sticky protective wrapping had been removed. Definitely a sign of not being brand new. Then I looked for the Jets for Natural gas and the hose fitting. They were not there. The Shelves inside were not packed with Polystyrene so as not to slide when moved in transit. This is such a breech of customer service and rights It is disgusting. When I went to try get the Natural gas jest from Makro I was given such a run around . I am a gas installer and my customer wanted the stove fitted urgently so finally got them to give me a set from another stove. They totally deny that it could have been a used stove packed as new. Having been in the gas installation business I recognized this all immediately. Been installing gas stoves including Defy and do know that this customer was **********. What are you going to do about it. I had to go ahead with the installation because it was urgent but now she sits with a second hand stove charged as a new one.

Good day Greg.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for your dissatisfaction.
We would like to assure you that we do not sell second hand goods.
Unfortunately cosmetic damages have to be raised and resolved at store level. We understand that you recognised these issues immediately because of your expertise but proceeded to install the unit when it should have been reported and taken back to the store upon your immediate findings.

The service team and retailers have advised on this case.

Warm regards,

All they did is pass the buck to the store and twisted my story. It has nothing to do with whether I installed it or not. The fact is that I received an appliance all wrapped up and sealed sold as new and found it to have been used as Demo or second hand. No one wants to explain to me as to how this could happen. I also told them I knew it was not a brand-new stove because of my experience. A private customer would not have been any the wiser. They put the fault on me because they say that any appliance bought in a store must be opened before taking it away. If their quality control was up to standard, then we would not have to do this. They also keep saying I should not have installed it but taken it back to the store. I wonder who would cover for my extra expenses.

They were in touch but never answered my questions. They beat around the bush and blamed me. Did not answer as to how it could happen that a used or demo product was in a closed packed sealed box. Sold as brand new
