Never buy this brand (Defy) – it’s horrible. And never buy appliances from Makro – better buy from Takealot.

I recently bought a fridge from Makro and I deeply regret the purchase. From the beginning, the fridge made a strange and very loud sound. I reported this to Makro, and they sent a technician who concluded that “there is nothing wrong” with it. However, the noise is unpleasant and constant, and it continues to be a problem in my home.

In addition to the noise, I find the freezer shelves to be extremely poorly designed. It is difficult to open or close them without affecting the other shelves, and they are not user-friendly at all. Unfortunately, while trying to remove one shelf today, I forgot that the other shelf needed support—and it fell and broke. I’m very upset about this, especially because Makro does not allow you to return an appliance simply because you’re unhappy with it. They insist on sending a technician instead, which doesn’t help if the issue is with the design or user experience, not just a technical fault.

I have never regretted a purchase as much as I regret buying this fridge. I truly wish I had gone for the Hisense model instead, as its design and quality are much better. I feel hurt and disappointed. I also want to caution other customers: sometimes things are on special for a reason.

Makro, please review this brand and your return policy for appliances. Customers deserve better.
