I CANNOT RELY ON DEFY.
I bought a faulty Defy Gemini Petite Chef oven from Game in 2016 with wrong hinges. The oven works but cannot bake cakes. After emailing their call center service controller to see what is wrong, Ismael Mosweu wants me to pay R630 for call out and R170 for every half an hour. I refused to pay because it is not my fault. After a year I found a technician in Worcester, DC Electric, who is an agent for DEFY who didn't charge for call out. After three call outs (and severals calls from my side to ask for service) the owner James came out and discovered the problem. The oven door and the control panel should be flush! There is 1 cm gap between the door and the control panel where all the heat escapes. Apparently it is the wrong hinges. He promised on 10 December 2019 to order smaller hinges and fix the oven. I haven't heard from him them yet. I emailed, Ismael Mosweu, Vannesa Kotze and Service (email addresses on the webpage) with proof (pictures) of the oven door and no one responded. I contact Defy on their Facebook page on 3 January 2020, they responded the next day with a phone call promised to contact the agent, DC Electric and told me the guarantee expired. No one contacted me. I send another message on Facebook messenger on 8 February, they said: ' We have escalated my message with utmost urgency", but nothing!
All this is NOT my fault! I bought the oven fixed, in a box and just put it in the build-in cupboard. Seeing that Defy's quality control is not up to standards (they should inspect appliances before it goes out for retailing), it is not fair that I have to pay and suffer for years with a faulty oven and pay to fix their fault. I saved and wanted to invest in a decent oven (for life) but bought a faulty one!
