Faulty Defy DTL140 - seems to a common problem

I purchased a Defy DTL160 14kg top loader from Makro Wonderboom. It was delivered on the 15th of January. The machine comes to the end of the cycle with 1 or 5 minutes left, it tries to spin, makes a horrible noise and then starts tapping water in again. It does this about 3 times and then errors out, leaving the laundry still wet and the cycle time extended way over its time, consuming more power and water than necessary. I have logged a call with Makro ***. Looking at the reviews on the Makro website, I am definitely not the only customer experiencing exactly the same issue. I am waiting for a technician to come out but to be honest I either need a replacement machine that is working or a refund on my purchase.
