Evaporator coil rusted away on Defy fridge - Dissipointed
Bought a defy fridge after 5 years the inside of the fridge is completely rusted and started to leak refrigerant, it seems they use mild steel for the evaporator coil and only has a coating on it. This does not make sense as the the refrigerant in this fridge is flammable(R600-a). Why is the coil not made out of copper?

27 Oct 2023, 17:21Unfortunately I will not be able to pay for the repair of this fridge at your fault.
This is not a mechanical fault, in this case it is using a poor quality product and in this case the wrong product.
If you do not want to cover the repair or assist me in any way I will do it myself as I am working as an HVAC technician.
But be sure that I will be following up on the use of mild steel material on a evap coil and running R600 refrigerant if I find any legal obligation that you did not comply with be sure I will be taking it further.
The disappointing part is that I paid R 10 000 for a fridge that should have lasted atleast more that 10 to 15 years.
