Defy substandard products

I bought a brand new Defy fridge/freezer combo from House & Home. The fridge was delivered and after the delivery people left and the appliance was unwrapped, we inspected it and found a nasty very hard kinda putty/silicone substance around the fridge door hinge at the bottom. On closer inspection it was found that this hard substance was pushing the fridge door rubber away, which is a huge concern which could in future perhaps lead to the fact that the door rubber won't seal properly. House&Home was contacted and the fridge is in the process to be collected and replaced asap. The concern one has, is the fact that the question should be raised how in the world could this fridge pass the quality control requirements in the factory, but as we know Defy is a local SA product, hence there should be no surprises here. We were actually warned not to get involved with Defy as their standards have dropped drastically during the past few years as most things did in SA as we know. Absolutely shocking to say the least.

Bought a Defy stove about 2yrs ago too. About 3mths later the oven light quit working. Had another no name brand stove before that for about 20yrs and the oven light was still working when I got rid of it. Just goes to show, Defy is not what it was.

Oh please Defy, stop with the generic responses. this fridge is one day old to be exact, no technician will be working on it, I've contacted the manager of House & Home Cape Gate and we are now looking at a complete replacement. How this fridge passed the quality control fridge in you factory blows one's mind. Just further proof that local is not lekker, and we will be forced to look at international brands in future, cause local is now not so lekker.

I mean to say how this fridge managed to pass the Quality Control test in te factory, is anyone's guess. This is nothing more than a reject that should be sold at a huge reduced price at the least. Anyone accepting this kinda quality appliance as a new unit, I don't think we will find easily in this life time, very bad Defy.
