Defy products are not reliable and service is poor

I have a defy C455 mirror finish fridge that was purchased in August 2018. The unit started giving problems, I logged a call beginning of November as the unit stopped cooling.

I reported the issue, a technician came out from their agents Clubview appliances. After a day the fridge stopped cooling, the technician came out again. The unit cooled for a day and stopped cooling. I told the defy agents, they said they have written a report to defy and I should expect a call from Defy. The unit is under warranty but I had to pay R850 for a call out fee and regas, which the problem still persists even after they re-gassed the unit.

I have not received a call from Defy, my food that was in the fridge had to be thrown away as it gets spoilt every time the unit doesn’t work. I even regret why I chose Defy over other brands that have proven to be reliable. The fridge is definitely the last Defy appliance I ever purchase.

Reviewer Update
So after I posted the review, I received a call from Defy to arrange for the unit to be picked up. The relevant department called me same day Friday 4th December and promised to come collect the Fridge today Tuesday 8th December 2020. Which was all good and well, I had a bit of relief that the unit that has caused me soo much frustration will be taken away for repairs. I arranged with my helper to come in today so that they can access my place when they collect the unit. To have my helper here costs me R250 as that is her daily rate, but I didn’t mind the costs as I had to make a plan to have someone at the house. My excitement was short lived, the unit was not collected, Defy didn’t even have the courtesy to let me know that they won’t come to collect the unit (Because I suppose they do not care), I called the call centre two times today to find out what will happen, the only thing I get told is that they will escalate it to the Midrand branch manager Lucas.

All I can say is that Defy’s after sales support is pathetic. I wish they can understand the frustration of not having a fridge, the amount of money I lost on my spoilt food on three occasions, and the extra costs of having to buy take aways.
