DEFY HAS LOST A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER
My family and I have been loyal Defy supporters for the last 40 years and all my electrical appliances at the moment are Defy but we will never buy another Defy appliance again. My mum and I both bought Defy stand alone fridge freezers and the shelves in the fridge don’t fit so they have to be repositioned every time you place something on them. My mum’s fridge has twice been replaced because of a leak and she is now still awaiting a third replacement. I purchased a Defy front loader steam washing machine in August last year. It is used to wash clothes for 3 people for most of the time except during University holidays then it is 4 people. In the last week of March this year, the plastic door popped of at the hinges while the machine was running. I waited until the lockdown restrictions were lifted at the end of May to report the problem. On the 2nd of June a Defy technician came out checked the machine and told me that they would order the door and the machine was covered under the warranty. On the 15th of June they fetched my machine to be fitted with the new door. A few days later we got a call to say that the fault was ours because we had left the door open for extended periods of time so the hinges were damaged. What is a door for? Surely this is a design flaw!!! (On all my other machines, the instructions indicated that the door should be left slightly open for the door seal to dry). They then inform me that I have to pay R3500 rand and labor to have it fixed. I paid R6999 for the machine. It is now 3 months down the line and I still haven’t gotten my machine back. So in total I have had no washing machine for 5MONTHS!!!!!! I am done with Defy
