Dangerous repair work

I purchased a Defy tumble drier and while under warranty, the thermostat that controls the heater became faulty. Since it was under warranty, we called Defy service to attend to it. They performed the repair and it has been working since until recently. Since the warranty has recently expired, I decided to perform an assessment myself before deciding whether to replace faulty parts or call Defy's technicians in.

When I opened the machine I was shocked to find the thermostat had been bypassed with copper wire at the previous repair. Clearly the thermostat was faulty and the technician was too lazy to place a new order and come back. The wire had since melted which is the reason for the heater failing again.
