Bad Service Report – Defective Dishwasher and No Resolution

I purchased a Defy dishwasher through Takealot, which was delivered on 11 December.

From the first use, it was clear that the machine was faulty, as it did not wash the dishes at all. I immediately contacted the Defy service line to report the issue. After several follow-ups, a technician was only dispatched on 23 December.

The technician confirmed that the pump is not working and advised that a replacement would need to be requested.

Since that visit, I have made numerous calls to Defy customer support. Each time, I am given assurances that the matter will be “escalated” and that someone will contact me. None of these promises have been kept.

I was eventually referred to the Cape Town service manager. I was told he was busy, left my contact details, and was assured that he would call me back. No call has been received to date.

At this point:

I have had a non-functional dishwasher since delivery

The fault was confirmed by Defy’s own technician

There has been no replacement, no repair, and no meaningful communication

I am still without a working dishwasher weeks later

This level of service is unacceptable. I have exhausted all reasonable channels and am now left with no option but to escalate publicly. I will be posting daily reviews until this matter is resolved, as this appears to be the only way to get action.

I am extremely disappointed in Defy’s after-sales support and would strongly caution others based on this experience.
