Thrown to the wolves by DebtBusters!!!

I have been under debtreview since March 2019 and had never missed a single payment until last year when I ran into trouble with SARS which needed more money from me, changing my financial circumstances and ability to pay my commitments. I explained this to Debtbusters and a form 17.3 was issued to my creditors on my behalf and it was indeed explained that this is not a legally binding document and that the creditors can terminate the agreement I had with them.

And as my luck had it, one of my creditors did terminate my agreement with them(possibly more might). I received a letter from Debtbusters alerting me of this. At which point I was basically told this account is no longer their responsibility and that I must call my creditor and negotiate new terms with them and I must then come back to Debtbusters once this is done so that they can try and get the creditor back onboard. I called the creditor, they simply told me there is nothing they can do for me, my debtreview agreement was terminated and I must start paying them directly, which means that all the payments I made over almost 20 months just vanished and I must now start paying again from scratch for 60 months.

In the email sent to me and the creditors along with my form 17.3; there is a paragraph that states the following to my creditors: "Please note that as soon as the client resumes employment and is able to resume payment, we will provide all respective credit providers with an amended proposal". In a call with Debtbusters I had made clear that I will be able to resume all payments in February 2021, and since already one creditor terminated their agreement with me; when was Debtbusters going to provide "an amended payment proposal" to my creditors; possibly stopping the trouble I now find myself in. I did not choose to stop paying, I found myself in a situation that stopped me from doing so through a government entity that cares nothing about debtreview. But at the same time, DebtBusters failed me as their client by not communicating with my creditors and negotiating before anything fell apart. There is a monthly aftercare fee charged by Debtbusters and I surely doubt they have earned this money. And to add salt to my wounds; I call Debtbusters today(02/02/2021) seeking advice on the new agreement forced on me by this creditor, I spent 30 minutes on the phone and explained my situation to three different agents who after listening to me just told me they can't help since its not their department, ended up hanging up.

From where I stand; I still wonder how Debtbusters is so highly regarded when they fail so badly to maintain their client's relationships with creditors and how fast they are to tell you that an account is no longer their problem. My account getting terminated worked to their advantage actually, one less hustle to deal with. I am so disappointed at the service levels rendered by DebtBusters, at my lowest and at the time I needed them most.
