Hopeless

Hopelessness doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel when dealing with Debtbusters. I have been sending emails and they created tickets with promise that an agent will contact me. I’m still waiting. I was with Debtbusters from 2013 until 2017 when I cancelled. At the time of cancellation, I only had 4 accounts to settle, which I did directly with the credit providers. I had a cheque account (with a balance of R628) at FNB which formed part of the debt review process and according to statements from the PDA/ Debtbusters, this cheque acc was settled in 2014, while still being actively under debt review. Now that I want a clearance certificate for them to remove the status from credit bureaus, I firstly had to contact all the creditors asking for a paid up letter, even the ones that were settled while being a Debtbusters client, and secondly had to find out that now I still owe FNB R4000!! I have wasted so much airtime just to get to the bottom of this matter, to no avail. I get send from post to pillar and the issue remains unresolved. Despondent, is how I feel now.

Reviewer Update
Debtbusters called after the review and could not resolve this issue. The “escalation channel” is just for show, they didn’t even bother to send an automated response o acknowledge my complaint. Today was supposed to be a happy, me submitting all my paid up letters, one step closer to building up my credit score. But no, due to this mess with FNB and Debtbusters, I am back to square one. All I want from them is to give me my clearance certificate and clear the debt review status. And I will liaise with FNB myself on a way forward to settle the mess Debtbusters left me with. People should steer clear from debt review, it is all well and a temporary relief not to be bothered by creditors, but debt counselors are not in this to help you, they prey on your desperation. The struggle to clear your name afterwards is a nightmare.
