Out of all the debt review companies out there, I am glad I chose debtbusters. Actually they were the first company I've approached when I realized I was drowning in debt in 2017. There are some horror stories of people chosing the wrong debt review companies out there.

Next month will be my last installment and I want to share my experience with anyone who is thinking about entering the process.

1. The most important thing to remember when considering debt review is that you will not be able to get any credit until the process is complete. Its a legal process so you can not just opt out after signing up. So be sure before entering the process.

2. I was told the process would last max 5 years. That's probably true if you pay more than the reduced amount they negotiate for you. I just paid the reduced installment and it took me 6 years. Mine was from March 2017 to March 2023, six years.

3. They have to make money so there will be extra charges eg. Insurance, aftercare fees, PDA fees. The insurance was a little less than what you have to pay when taking out any personal loan.

4.They will not be able to reduce the interest on all your accounts. I had a personal loan and credit card with Nedbank and they manged to reduce the interest to 0.02%. Standardbank refused to lower the 15% on the credit card I had with them. They could also not negotiate a lower interest rate with Edgars.

5. When you go for debt review, keep an eye on the credit bureau, the statement on Debtbusters portal (Smartcents) as well as the Hypen PDA statement.

6. You will have to change banks so prepare before going under debt review.

All and all Debtbusters facilitated my process satisfacory. They can be reached via their Smartcents portal if you have any questions. Their turnaround time for answering emails are less than a day.

Im giving rave reviews here but the guy that is struggling with his clearance certificate is making me worried a bit. So Debtbusters, dont make me come back here and change this review. My last installment is 25 March 2023 and I expect no problem with my clearance certificate.
