From relief, to regret!!
I joined DebtBusters at a very difficult financial time in my life, hoping to get assistance managing my debt responsibly. Initially, the onboarding experience was professional and smooth. Communication was efficient, and I was assigned a consultant and negotiator to assist me through the process.
I especially want to acknowledge Fundile, who was helpful and responsive in the beginning. Whenever I had questions, he made an effort to respond and escalated my concerns internally. I appreciate that professionalism.
Unfortunately, my experience changed once I started questioning the figures on my account. My debt review balance had increased by a shocking 197.75% (yes, one hundred and ninety seven point seven-five percent) compared to what I understood my original debt to be. One particular account from many years ago had also increased drastically over time, to the point where it no longer made financial sense to me.
Naturally, I requested a detailed breakdown and explanation of these amounts. Fundile repeatedly referred my concerns to Lazola, who was handling the negotiation side of my account, and even included him in email threads in an effort to assist me. However, despite multiple follow-ups over an extended period, I struggled to receive proper feedback or clear explanations from Lazola regarding how these figures had been calculated.
As a consumer already under financial pressure, this became incredibly stressful. I was being asked to commit to payments while still not understanding why my debt had increased so dramatically. At the same time, communication became inconsistent, yet payment demands and debit order notifications continued.
No consumer should feel pressured to continue with a process they do not fully understand, especially when they are actively trying to get clarity on their account.
Eventually, after ongoing frustration, lack of transparency, and unanswered concerns, I requested cancellation of the process and moved to another firm.
My issue is not with debt review itself. My issue is with transparency, communication, and accountability. Consumers who are already in vulnerable financial situations deserve timely responses, proper explanations, and clarity regarding the amounts they are expected to repay.
I hope this review encourages better communication and better client support going forward.
