Debtbusters: from blessing to curse

When I started my debt review process with Debtbusters, it was fantastic. They communicated well, and I felt that they had my interests at heart. However, over the last few months, they have done a complete 180 degree shift. In the past whenever you sent them an email, you immediately got an auto-response to say they had received your email, and indicated a possible turnaround time. Now, you don't get any acknowledgement, and if they do answer, it takes weeks, instead of days.

During October or November, I received the usual SMS giving me option to choose to have an early debit order date for December. I declined the offer,, wanting to keep my debit order the same date.

Then, on 16 November 2021, I received an email from Debtbusters, informing me that my debit order WILL be earlier than usual.

I rep**** to that email, saying I did not want a change of date. I also posted a review on Hellopeter, which Debtbusters didn't like, because I had not followed their internal process. So I went onto their website, and spoke to an agent called Kim. I told Kim I didn't want an earlier debit order date. She asked me to email the standard customer service address. I told her I was reluctant to do so, as responses were so ridiculously slow. She promised me I would receive a response within three days. So I did send an email. (This was all on 16 November 2021).

On 17 November I received an email saying a support ticket had been opened for my initial response saying I didn't want an earlier date (Not the email I sent after speaking to Kim).

On Saturday 20 November, I received an email explaining why the early debit order dates are done. I know why they are done, so this did not answer my complaint about being told the debt order date WILL change. I then received an email saying my ticket had been resolved. This was a lie, as no one from Debtbusters had spoken to me about not changing my debit order date, they just told me why they do it.

15 December 2021 comes around, and I receive my salary, and lo and behold, Debtbusters took an early debit order. This was against my express instruction that I do not want the early debit order date.

At the time of writing (16 December 2021), I have had no acknowledgement, nor a response, to my email after speaking to Kim (the one that she promised would have a response within 3 days).

So, Debtbusters, what have you got to say for yourselves? You have gone from being a company that I enjoyed doing business with, because you made me feel like more than just a number, to being a company that is actually a curse in my life. I despise having to do business with you, and if it wasn't for the fact that switching to a new debt counsellor means starting from scratch, I would have been gone. I am now counting days until I am rid of this curse in my life.

Email me, don't phone me. I want a paper trail.
