Debt Busters- Terrible Service
We received the quote for a monthly instalment which included all our credit providers accepted rates. Our total instalment is R18 150.00. Our first debit order payment was on the 27 October 2022. We received and accepted the attached payment schedule dated 18October 2022. On the 2nd of November 2022, I received a sms indicating my home loan is 30 days in arrears as well as MFC indicating my car payment is also in arrears. After numerous follow-up via email and telephone, I was assured this error’s would be resolved. On the 25 November 2022, I received a letter of demand from FNB home loan dated 03 11 2022. I was advised telephonically that both matters were being resolved. Khonzani Nqunqa *** from Debt buster was in contact with the credit providers and resolving this matters. These errors were due to the acceptance if debt review application. By 13 January 2023, I received a further letter from MFC – notice of withdrawal from debt review application as no payment was made for account ***. Khonzani Nqunqa confirmed via email that there was no final acceptance from Nedbank. I was referred to Xolani Zililo *** and Liaquat Ismail *** for further assistance. On 19 January 2023 we were advised that 11 000.00 was outstanding and MFC has accepted the debt review application however there has been no payment that was made to MFC from Debt busters. They advised that I am liable for collection fees and eventually the car will be repossessed. Via telephonic conversation, we were advised that both matters were resolved and all payment are updated. Based on the re- negotiations, we received the attached negotiations completed summary confirming our monthly instalment amount and the accepted amounts from all creditors including FNB home loans going forward for the duration of our term. As per the email dated 28 February 2023, no payment to debt busters were missed or short paid, therefore no credit providers should have been terminated or short paid. On 21 September 2023, I was cc’d on the *** MRS KATHERINE PILLAY TERMINATION NOTICE from FNB home loans to debt buster. I contacted FNB debt review centre, who had informed me that a short payment was continuely being made of R 776.31 instead of the negotiated amount of R +_5308.00 We were never informed of this re-negotiated amount of R 5308.00 We were only advised of the signed home loan re-payment of R776.31 Day after day we have called, left messages as well as sent a number of emails to resolved this matter. Please note the attached email dated 29 September 2023 to FNB home loan to reinstate my account. We were never informed of this error or short payment or the re-negotiated FNB home loan amount of R 5 308.00. This email also acknowledges debt buster has neglected to inform me of this short payment. Based on this increase, we were now advised that our agreed upon instalment amount of 18 150.00 would be increasing by R4 531.69 after a year. We were never advised by the negotiator during or after negotiation that my monthly instalment could or would increase. We made our decision to apply for debt counselling with debt buster based on the monthly premiums amount. In October 2022, we also received a quoted amount from Yolande A - Debt Rescue *** for a monthly instalment of R 19 200.00. However, based on the set lower premium promised by debt buster, we signed with debt buster. We now own FNB home loans R 37 083.14 for outstanding premiums payments and we were informed that we will be responsible for all legal fees and costs. We never missed a payment before we signed and entered into agreements with debt buster. TCF - fair treatment of customers – I was not provided with clear information or kept appropriately informed before, during this year of payment or informed the point of sale or when the negotiations were complete that my premiums may increase or change or any short payment was being made. Advise was given to me however it did not take in account my circumstances and how suitable the change in premiums would be in the future The service I received are therefore of unacceptable standards and not what I was led to believe. Debt busters are now providing an unreasonable barrier by increasing my premiums a year later - or how these issues was tracked or monitored. I was not given the correct information up front to make a sound decision. I was not informed at all of the short payment during this year or that my monthly premiums would increase or change after I finalized the process. I didn’t get what I was promised. However, I was assured that all my premiums were being paid accordingly and my accounts were in order. I was not kept informed from the start of the contract correctly and now even further in debt than before our agreement.
I have emails from the team leader as proof stating that they have messed up on the initial calculations and now they want to increase my premium by over R4000 per month. I have a contract with them that I have already paid for a year and after a year they come up with this.
