Food poisoning landed in ER
Dear Debonairs Customer Care,
I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding a severe case of food poisoning I suffered after eating one of your products.
On Monday, 13 October 2025, my friend and I ordered a Chicken Cram-Decker Pizza on Uber-eats from your Paarl branch. Within hours of eating it, I became extremely ill, experiencing continuous vomiting, severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps, and dehydration. My condition worsened so severely that I had to seek urgent medical attention. The doctor diagnosed me with a serious food poisoning infection, and I required an injection, antibiotics, and ended up in ER today. R3000 medical cost each later (My friend was diagnosed with the same and also landed up in ER.)
This situation is completely unacceptable. As a trusted national food brand, I expect Debonairs to uphold the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The fact that I contracted a severe bacterial infection after eating your product raises serious concerns about the preparation and handling of food at this branch.
I am requesting an urgent investigation into this matter. I would appreciate written confirmation that my complaint has been received and that the incident is being investigated. I am also willing to provide my doctor’s report and proof of purchase to assist in your investigation.
This experience has been extremely distressing, and I strongly urge Debonairs to take responsibility and ensure that corrective measures are put in place immediately to prevent this from happening to anyone else.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this very serious matter.
Kind regards, Megan Schneigansz
