the perfect ISP for back-up internet.

My main is 5g with MTN, but lately I have suffered during load shedding. Upon asking around some, I found day whose staff were able to point me towards satellite internet providers for backups because they are not affected by load shedding like the 5g towers are... I am still in the process of finding out what to do about satellite. I want to see where the electric grid in Pietermaritzberg goes in the next few weeks to see if the 5g suffers. I have been using the 1tb telkom plan as a backup to my 5g in the interim, and it is surprisingly good! I actually bought a Billion bipac router just before the holidays because my huawei one kept backing up, and I think that this might just be the best decision that I have made because it works amazingly with my telkom SIM. I get about 105Mbps on average with telkom on good days and then it slows to 50Mbps on bad days, I presume that this is due to load shedding because it eventually goes back to normal. I do have a signal booster that my husband installed, but I am not sure how much that helps or if it does at all. Not sure that I need 1tb, but I am happy with it so far. With 5g, I got 200Mbps easy at first with the booster, but that is off so often that I do not know if it is sustainable. There is only one 5g tower near me, so I presume that the lack of backups is the issue, but the thing's that I do not live in a rural area by any means. Anyways, I am very thankful to the agent who talked me thru this thru email to help me get the best plan given my sitaution. I have high hopes for the satellite internet once I decide which provider is best for me and also when the installation can take place. I might honestly consider telkom when they role out 5g after all of this bc they were suprisingly good. I remember my first number was with telkom, but the signal back then was abismal! I am glad to see that it has improved.
