I registered with Damelin Correspondence College in 2012 November to study a Diploma in Hotel Management at a cost of R15 000 which I paid upfront and did 17 modules at R450 per exam and have completed it in 2015. Little did I know that the diploma is unaccredited and have discovered that when trying to apply at the University this year. I went back to Damelin Head Office at Success House in Braamfontein on the 3rd of August to ask about the NQF level and met Ms Enalise Khambule who first denied that that's their diploma and believed it after checking my registration on their system. Ms Enalise Khambule didn't seem to have a valid information regarding the diploma and asked me to write an email to the Academic Head which she copied and sent using her resources. The academic Head confirmed that the diploma is unaccredited. What I was told at Damelin head office was that the least I could do is to do the full accredited course, a hotel management course which became accredited after I have completed their unrecognized one, the course has some of the modules I have already done, I think its unfair to go through the whole course again.

I have reported the matter to SAQA and was assured that Damelin should give me credits and should ask for a SAQA ID number. I sent an email on the 27th of September to Liezel van Bienne, the academic head who responded to the first email sent by Ms Enalise Khambule, and the second one for a follow up two weeks later, my emails were not responded. I further went to Department of Higher Education and Training where I was told that it's my loss, there's nothing they can do.

I feel very frustrated and cheated by Damelin since I now have their unaccredited diploma which is not recognized in the country, and have frequented the head office with the matter that doesn't bother them, but they proudly tell me to start the course from scratch.

-Damelin Correspondence College ****** me off my money and the two years of studying -They refused to recognize their Diploma until I insisted -They did not give me clarity from the day of registration that they call their diplomas: "S****s Development" -Their diploma of Hotel Management its an award of a 2 year full program under the term Diploma - Starting a course from scratch was their proud advice, but with what funds?
