My experience buying a bike from Cycle lab.
So my short story goes like this : I bought a bike ( Scott CR1 ) from cycle lab in Jan 2022 in preparation for the Cape cycle tour. The service consultant at the Fourways branch actually advised against me purchasing the bike as according to sizing the bike was too big for me. I traveled to the Boksburg branch with the hopes of finding a suitable replacement for what I just set my heart on and after chatting to a new consultant it turns out the bike at Fourways was actually my size , so they couriered the bike to the Boksburg branch.
Happy Chappie , I concluded the deal at the Boksburg branch, took the bike on two rides and on the second one the derailleur hanger breaks while I'm cycling. Stressed out , I take it back to the store for repairs. Cycle lab Boksburg confirms that they can fix it but I might be out of warranty even though I was within my 30 warranty clause. Cycle lab Boksburg reassures me that it will be fixed and they will have to courier some new parts from CPT , I agree and confirm as long as it's not at my expense.
After 3 long weeks of waiting and being without a bike and with the Cape cycle a week away I get a phone call on the 18th of March "Mr Wilkinson , come through your bike is ready". Excited , I get ready to go and pick up my bike. An hour later Cycle lab Boksburg calls again and says "Sir , your bike is not working properly and the frame is actually bent". I get to the store , the bike was still in the repair shop. The repair consultant explains what has happened and they were going to refund my money.
Shocked , I frantically got into my car and went bike shopping and there wasn't even a replacement bike or rental offered by cycle lab.
Long story short , Solomon cycles sells better bikes than Cycle lab and is more client centric.
