Be very careful what you are told at Cyclelab - check the facts or you might buy a lemon!
Be very careful what you get told by salespeople at Cycle lab. Don't believe what they say, check for yourself or you may well buy a bike you can't use. I bought a bike recently at Cyclelab Fourways. The guy who helped me was very pleasant and tried to convince me he had all the facts and figures at his fingertips. I am tall and weigh more than 90 kg, and two bikes I had in the past I had to buy new rims because I kept on breaking spokes. The problem was simple, the rims were not designed for my weight. I said to the sales person I was cautious and wanted a bike that would take my weight. The bike I was looking at was a Cannondale going for about R60 000.00 so I was not buying a budget bike. He told me the bike rims were good for at least 135 kg and were 32 spoke rims which also gave me confidence. I bought the bike but when looking closely at the specs I noticed that the maximum weight is 86 kg and was a 28 spoke rim. That would never work out and I would have to replace the rims the same way I had done with the last bikes. They then offered to replace the rims with similar rims that can take the weight. I have been waiting weeks for the rims and every time I phone them there is another excuse. I am left wondering if I have bought a bike and will ever get to ride it. At this stage it is just hanging in my garage.
