Do not deal with CSI Rentals
CSI Rentals – Alison Davies
My mother in law moved into Village Walk Retirement Village in October 2018. The carpet was not ideal and we asked if it could be replaced, yet there were no burn marks on it, my mother-in-law just felt that this would be more hygienic if there were tiles instead of a carpet. We were told that if we wanted tiles instead of a carpet it would be for our own expense. Sadly she passed away on 4 June 2019. We moved her furniture out before the end of the month as we understood that CSI would like to fill the apartment for the new month. I took someone with to help and we cleaned every nook and cranny. We cleaned cupboard and windows and left the apartment as clean as we possible could. The next day a third party came to inspect the apartment and found everything in order as we have left it the previous day. On Friday 12 July (two weeks later) I received an email from Alison Davies from CSI rentals claiming that the carpet had burn marks, tht there were damages and that the panic button was not returned. The following figures were sent: Deposit: R6335.00 Repairs: R1800.00 Carpet Replacement: R4880.00 Panic Button: R150.00 Following to inform us that we owe them R1095.00 for which we ‘ will be handed over for’. The math did not add up. On 17 July I rep**** in asking the spesifics of the email received as to what the repairs were for, as well as photos of the supposed burn marks on the carpet. I then asked her why she only let us know two weeks after the exit. She blamed me in an email reply sent on 17 July that the delay was on our side and not on theirs. On 24 July I emailed her again in order to asked for the photos of the damaged carpet and also what needed repairing. She rep**** that the photos were on the exit report and that ‘there were definite burn marks that were not there upon entry.’ Eventually she sent me the exit report later that day with photos and I could not see one burn on the carpet, neither any places that needed to be repaired. On 20 Aug she emailed me claiming her case again. Now her math looked different: Deposit: R6335.00 Panic button: R105.59 Repairs: R1800.00 Carpet replacement: R4880.00 Now all of a sudden we owed them R180.00, again the nath did not add up. On 12 September I emailed and asked that we be sent photos of the new carpet and apparent repairs to the unit and we will let it be as we are still in mourning and now we need to fight over a deposit that is not refunded by CSI for no valid reason. Alison rep**** that she is awaiting feedback. Please do not use CSI for rentals as you will not receive your deposit back from them with no valid reasons.
