Celebration Retirement Estate - Renting a property

Having rented a house at Celebration Retirement Estate for a year I would like to raise the following - I did send an email but this was returned unread and deleted - so am using this platform. When a property is shown no defects are pointed out which are noticeable but when one vacates, an inspection lasts two hours or more and every single wall, cupboard, electric socket etc is photographed and a video taken. This should also be done BEFORE one moves in and normal 'wear and tear' taken into account. In our case an electric cover on a plug socket was never put on by the contractor and an amount was deducted from our deposit. It took endless calls and emails to sort and eventually to have the amount refunded. Also I had to contact the rental department to ask for the interest to be paid out on our initial deposit - this was not included in the initial deposit refund. This too took numerous calls and emails. Is this the normal practice that unless you ask for your interest it is not paid? They also deducted R600 off to remove a mark on a wall - R100 +R500 call out. As we had already left Jhb we had no alternative but to accept this. When vacating one shouldn't have to deal with what we encountered. One positive thing was living in a secure estate.
