Package not delivered and no attempt to contact me

So I had a package that needed to be delivered to me by courier it. It was to be delivered by 14h00. The driver upon arriving at the address supp**** to him by another company who the item was order from (which was wrong and no fault on his part) made no attempt to contact me and ensure that he is at the correct address. So my question is this: If I did not take the time to phone Courierit and query the status of the delivery would they have even notified me of the status? Or would the package had stayed in their store room until the end of time? My wife stayed at home waiting for the delivery and they just never showed up. What is the purpose of them having my details (cell number included) if it is not to contact me in these type of situations? Then their call center tells me it's not their fault as the other company gave them the incorrect address. Yes I know this but your driver could have phoned me when I could not be reached at the given (wrong) address. Situations like this truly does boggle my mind. I would appreciate a response from Courierit on this matter as to what went wrong in their process of delivering my package and what will be done to rectify this situation.
